The Challenge: Ensuring safety for a leisure park in the heart of nature
TRPS recently worked at a high-ropes course in Normandy. This type of leisure site, spread over several hectares and divided into different activity zones, faces major environmental constraints: changing terrain, dense vegetation, and metal structures that interfere with radio waves. The goal of our mission was clear: to precisely identify the weaknesses of the current network to ensure fluid and continuous communication, which is essential for team coordination and visitor safety.
Our Methodology: Rigorous, hands-on field mapping
For this impact study, our team was equipped with reference terminals: XT420 analog walkie-talkies (license-free) and DP3441 professional digital radios (licensed). We conducted a full tour of the site to manually map sensitive areas. By strategically separating ourselves at different points in the park (upstream, downstream, and long-distance zones), we tested and compared the reception quality of each model to precisely locate dead zones and evaluate the necessity of a licensed network.
Concrete technical recommendations for the future
Following these intensive real-world tests, TRPS provided a comprehensive audit report to the client. This document includes our precise signal mapping as well as our hardware and technical recommendations (choice of frequencies, device power, and whether a repeater is needed).
